Match Opportunity: Showme Scholarship Challenge 2.0

Thanks to the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), we have a new match campaign that will double any new, increased or re-instated gift.   It’s called 2.0 because this is the second match from the CIC and we met that challenge.  We need new partners to join other Missouri businesses and individuals to help us grow again for Missouri’s students.

Timeframe:  between now and September 30, 2024.

  • New donors:  Our average scholarship is $1,000, however, we combine all unrestricted donations to support scholarships.  Any amount helps:  $50, $100, $500 all count and will be doubled!
  • Reinstated donors:  If you supported MCF in the past, but did not during 2022, your donation will qualify for match!
  • Current donors:  If you increase your support over your 2022 giving, your increased amount will qualify for match!

The power of an independent higher education goes beyond academic excellence. We know that teaching occurs by faculty, it develops power skills like critical thinking, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills while emphasizing values and ethics, self-discipline, and responsibility. It makes a difference.

It is extremely difficult for many young Missourians graduating from high school to find a way to pay for a college education, especially those from working-class families who cannot afford to provide much assistance. In a recent report from the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education and Workforce Development, the gap between financial aid and college costs continues to widen. That is why we need you.

Presidents of independent colleges and universities have made it clear that one of their highest priority needs is additional scholarship aid for deserving students. A second identified need is for scholarships that can improve student retention beyond the first year. This grant addresses both concerns and will be awarded for use for students for the 2024-2025 school year who are at least in their second year.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 and their match of $25,000 will generate $50,000 in added support for our scholarship program.  As always, 100% of funds raised go to student scholarships which are administered by the schools and awarded to students based on financial need.
